Main constituents of the formula
Folic acid (vitamin B9): During breastfeeding, the mother's folate may decrease due to its passage into breast milk, which is the best source of folate for the baby. Folic acid contributes to normal psychological function. Folic acid also helps to decrease tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin A: The mother's vitamin A concentration decreases as breastfeeding continues. Breast milk is the best source of vitamin A for the baby.
Vitamin D: Contributes to the normal absorption and use of calcium. The concentration of vitamin D in breast milk depends on the mother's vitamin D levels.
Iodine: the nursing mother needs almost double the amount of iodine as an adult to ensure that her child receives all the iodine needed through milk. Iodine contributes to normal cognitive function.
Calcium: The mother's calcium needs increase greatly to maintain bone deposits and meet the demands of the child. Calcium contributes to normal energy metabolism and is necessary for maintaining bones in normal condition.
Iron: Contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin. An adequate contribution helps the mother recover from childbirth and reach the levels required during breastfeeding.
Omega-3 fatty acids: These are necessary nutrients for the body and can only be ingested from the diet. DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the breast-fed child. Breast-feeding women are informed that this beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 200 mg of DHA, in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults, i.e. 250 mg of DHA and EPA. .
